QUERCUS alba WHITE OAK
White Oak is the mightiest of noble oaks, is slow growing and a great shade tree for large yards, parks, or natural wildlife areas. The 'alba' means white referring to the bark, the tree's ash-graybark color. Their deep taproot makes it difficult to transplant and it can be toxic to horses.
